Meet Our Team

  • Dr. Kenneth DeRemer, DVM

I was born and raised in New Jersey, and moved to the west coast (California) for my graduate studies. I graduated from veterinary school in 1983 from the University of California at Davis. I moved to the Portland area shortly after graduation. I started my first clinic, Paws and Claws Pet Medical Center, as a house-call practice while its current facility was being finished. The doors to Paws and Claws opened in 1994. In 2008 I purchased Peninsula Dog and Cat Clinic in North Portland. I now split my time between both practices, working Mondays at Paws & Claws, and working the rest of the week here at Peninsula Dog & Cat Clinic. My wife and I have 3 children: KC, Ben, and Wyatt.Currently I have 1 dog, 2 cats, and a parrot. In my free time (which seems rare) I enjoy fishing and crafting home-brewed beer.

  • Dr. Ross Weinstein, BVSc

I grew up overseas in Manchester, England and graduated from the University of Liverpool Veterinary School in 1998. I began my career working as a veterinarian in London until I moved to the USA in 2000. Upon my arrival I began practicing as a small animal veterinarian in Boston before completing an internship in wildlife medicine at Tufts Veterinary School. I moved to Oregon in 2004 in search of the great lifestyle that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. I worked at various clinics around the Portland area before joining the team at Peninsula Dog & Cat Clinic in 2018. My professional interests include complex internal medicine cases, ophthalmology, dentistry as well as avian and exotic animal medicine. I also greatly value the opportunity to build long lasting relationships with clients and their pets. When I am not working or spending time with my two children and black lab, I enjoy fly fishing, mushroom hunting, hiking, gardening and home-brewing.

  • Alan C.
    Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVT)

I have loved reptiles and amphibians all of my life. As a child, growing up in Portland Oregon, I would spend a lot of time looking for snakes, frogs, salamanders, lizards and turtles. My love for animals grew over my years, leading me to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. I love working with all types of animals, and have been doing it professionally for over 20 years. In my not so free time, I enjoy the outdoors, fishing and volunteering.

  • Molly J.

I have worked in the veterinary field for most of my life, and devote most of my time to helping animals. I started at Peninsula Dog & Cat Clinic in 2010.  I recently retired from working at the Multnomah County Animal Shelter, and now enjoy living a semi-retired life at home with all of my lovely pets. At home I have Several birds ranging from parakeets to mccaws, 2 Dachshunds named Molly and Gemma, as well as a little terrier named Abby.

I was born in California but raised in Oregon. I joined the team at Peninsula Dog & Cat Clinic in September of 2018. I have been working in the veterinary field for over 20 years and still learn something new every day. In my spare time I enjoy going to local pinball tournaments, hiking, and playing video games. I also enjoy spending time with my wife and my two cats Foxy and Bert.

  • Lindsay, CVT

Before moving to Portland I was born and raised in Kentucky. I have worked in several veterinary clinics over the course of my career. I worked in small clinics as well as in large hospitals. Most recently I worked as a Certified Veterinary Technician at Dove Lewis. During my time there I realized that while working in an emergency hospital was very rewarding, I really missed making lasting and more meaningful relationships with clients and their pets! I decided to move back into a smaller clinic where I get to meet amazing people and some incredible pets! In 2014, I joined Peninsula Dog & Cat Clinic and I absolutely love it. I really enjoy getting to see pets grow and develop over the course of their lives. When I am not working, I enjoy hiking, gardening, reading, and finding new vegan food venues.

  • James

Shortly after Peninsula Dog and Cat Clinic opened, I was hired on as a receptionist and as an assistant. I have been working with Dr. DeRemer since the spring of 2007, and now also work at his other practice in Troutdale. Currently I have three cats; Doom, Danger and Ayame; and a blue nosed Pitbull named Nina. I have had other pets in the past; dogs, sugar gliders, fish, mice and a turtle. In my spare time I like to play guitar, brew homemade beer, play disc golf and recently got into metal forging.

  • Karla
    Veterinary Assistants

I came to work at Peninsula Dog & Cat Clinic in 2013. I previously worked for Dr DeRemer for several years at his first clinic, Paws & Claws, in Troutdale. I took several years off to raise my sons, and work at my local community child care. Moving back into the veterinary field was like riding a bike, and I jumped right away at the chance to work with such an amazing doctor. I love being able to work with animals, and make an impact on their lives. It is a very rewarding job.  When I am not at work at Peninsula, I am very involved with my kids sports and education, and also supporting my local community. I currently am working as a teacher in the Vancouver school district, but help cover shifts when school is on break because I love working with animals. In my not so free time, I enjoy cooking, reading, hiking and long walks on the beach.

    Veterinary Assistants

I grew up in Portland. Over the years I have owned and cared for dogs, cats, birds, hamsters and turtles! I started dog sitting and dog walking years ago, which led me to pursue working in the veterinary field. I joined the team at Peninsula Dog & Cat Clinic in  April of 2018. I really enjoy working with a team who devote their time to helping animals and who care about animals as much as I do. This is the first clinic that I have worked at, and I am lucky to have such great teachers to help me advance my skills. As soon as I started I knew this was the right career path for me. At home I have a Scottish fold, a Persian, a French Bulldog and a Golden Doodle. My dream job is to become a veterinarian, and I am excited about my journey to get there. In my free time I enjoy hiking and exploring, hanging with my animals and spending time with family and friends.

I grew up in Spain spending a lot of my childhood around horses. I knew from an early age that I wanted to work in the veterinary field. In my summers I would visit family in Oregon while also working internships at local veterinary hospitals. I decided to pursue my veterinary dream while attending the University of Madrid. In 2016 I completed my degree to become a veterinarian. After graduation I worked in large animal medicine, primarily with horses; but I also spent time volunteering at a local wildlife centers and the zoo. I always loved Oregon, and in 2018 I moved to Portland. I joined the team at Peninsula Dog & Cat Clinic in August of 2018. I really enjoy working here part time to gain more experience as I finish my exams to become a licensed veterinarian in the United States. In my free time I enjoy traveling, photography, drawing and horse riding.
